Children with epilepsy are at a higher risk for learning and behavioral problems. It is therefore necessary to conduct comprehensive neuropsychological diagnostics to assess learning strengths and weaknesses. The course of any epileptic illness also depends upon how a patient copes with the illness and is supported by his/her family. Psychotherapeutic factors can therefore help a patient learn to accept his/her illness and its consequences. As part of in-depth consultations with parents, we recommend specific therapies as well as help set appropriate scholastic goals.
