If so prescribed by the doctors, a diagnostic assessment is carried out by one of our physical/occupational therapists during an inpatient stay in the Northern German Epilepsy Center. The goal is to obtain a thorough assessment of motor, neurophysiological, sensory and cognitive skills. Individual therapy can be carried out as needed. In addition, we can assess and consult on available assistive technologies. As part of our developmental diagnostic assessment, we also have detailed discussions with patients’ parents. We also work in close collaboration with professionals in the related fields of speech therapy, early education, orthopedic technology etc. Indeed, at the Northern German Epilepsy Center we put a lot of emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation which is reflected in our weekly team meetings.
